Mayor Michael Nutter said today that the Mummers Parade will take place on Friday January 1, 2010.
This is the result over the long time confusion of whether the City of Philadelphia had enough finances to cover the Parade that has been a long time Philadelphia tradition.
The funds did not come from just one source, the Parade was kept alive by the City of Philadelphia, Politicians, Community Members, City Representatives, Council Men, The Recreation Department, Tasty Cake, Peco, Bob Brady, and Joe Vento.
Bob Brady said "If you lose your traditions, you lose your identity."
Mayor Nutter said that the Mummers Parade is here to stay and couldn't happen without the people that generously made donations.
Joe Vento said, " The City has been generous to me, this is my way of giving back to the City of Philadelphia."
